SUMMARY:Thinking Beyond the Market
DESCRIPTION:Join YWCA Muskoka\, in partnership with Theatre Muskoka and with support from Muskoka Housing Taskforce 2.0\, for a screening of Thinking Beyond the Market on Sunday\, September 13 from 1pm to 4pm. \nWritten and directed by Dr. Brian Doucet\, the film explores genuinely affordable housing solutions from communities across Canada. Through interviews with more than 30 planners\, policymakers\, politicians\, developers\, residents and housing advocates\, it looks at approaches including non-market housing on public land\, Indigenous-led projects\, tenant protections and rent control. \nThe film challenges viewers to look at the root causes of the housing crisis while highlighting practical solutions already making a difference in communities large and small.
