DESCRIPTION:Get ready for a fun morning of painting with Parry Sound artist Jessica Vergeer! This class is being held at the Bobby Orr Community Centre in Parry Sound on Saturday June 28 from 9:30am to 12pm. Registration is limited\, so get some friends together and come as a group or don’t hesitate to come out on your own! This is a fun and supportive environment with a focus on art and creativity\, first and foremost. \nNew to painting? Not a problem! This class is perfect for everyone\, with Jessica leading you step-by-step through the process of painting this Killbear Park Windswept scene in acrylic on canvas\, from start to finish. All painting supplies are provided and you will leave this class with your finished 14×10 painting! \nOn the day of the class please arrive at the Bobby Orr Community Centre at least 15 minutes early and head upstairs to the Hart Trophy Room to check in. This room is accessible via elevator if required. Please note that this facility can be very busy on weekends\, so please give yourself sufficient time to find parking and make your way to the class. We plan to start the class at 9:30am sharp. Please bring your own beverages or snacks if required. \nJessica’s painting classes are geared to an adult audience; registered minors 12 and older are welcome as long as they are also accompanied by a registered adult parent/guardian and can keep pace with the rest of the class. \nPlease note that all registrations for this event are first-come first-serve. No cancellation refunds or credit will be issued under any circumstance unless the event is canceled by the organizers. She is best known for her Murdoch Mysteries series\, which was adapted to film and television. It is entering its eighteenth season and airs in one hundred and twenty territories world wide. She is creative consultant for the show and writes a script for each season.\nShe has been nominated several times for the CWC awards of excellence.\nIn 2011\, she was awarded the Grant Allen Award for contribution to her genre. SUMMARY:Hike and Paint Huckleberry Rock Trail with Bala Plein Air
DESCRIPTION:This session is a 4 hour adventure as we explore the Huckleberry Trail together. This loop trail is 2.5km in and out. Artists who make the trek to the Lookout will have the reward of a great vista overlooking Lake Muskoka with the forest leaves on trees in full colour. More to come later about guest artist. \nPlease consider if you are fit enough to traverse rocky ground with a moderate incline and determine your own comfort level. The Bala Plein Air Group assumes that all individuals who participate in this group walk and talk are fit to participate and take on personally the responsibility for the risks involved. More information about Huckleberry Rock Lookout Trail can be found here. There are benches and forest pathways for artists at the entrance of the trail for painting on your own if you do not feel comfortable with the walk and climb. \nPlein air artists who pack light will not mind the 2.5km loop trail. We will leave time for painting/sketching at the lookout after listening to guest artist lecture and learn how plein air artists approach colour\, and take inspiration from Canada’s magnificent views and scenic landscapes. \nRAIN? We will proceed if there is a light possibility 30-40% chance of rain on this day\, but if washed out or stormy weather we will reschedule to THURSDAY August 29. Those signed up with the BPAG Group will be kept in the loop by E-Mail if plans need to be changed. \nSUNNY? Bring a sunshade like an umbrella. Bright sun can overexpose colour and hard to see judge hues and values. \nDIRECTIONS & PARKING From Hwy #118 near Port Carling take Milford Bay Road a short distance to 1057 Milford Road on your left. If you reach the golf course you have gone too far. There are no public washrooms here\, however nearby there are portable washrooms 1/2 km on Hwy #118 near the picnic table Rest area. We can spread out from there to the quite zone beach on Clear Lake or up to one of the many gardens. We will be mindful to keep the walking paths clear and respect the privacy of spa guests enjoying the pools. El Gringo’s food truck serves up amazing Tacos and refreshments for lunch\, if interested. \nDirections: Address is 1006 Clear Lake Road\, Torrance\, ON. From Bala\, this is a 5 minute drive (5.2km). Take Hwy #169 southeast to Southwood Road (Muskoka District Road #13) and turn right\, just past Clear Lake Brewing Company. Take a left turn immediately onto Clear Lake Road and the entrance to the Beer spa is on the right. Park in the parking lot.
