DESCRIPTION:This is a kinder\, gentler version of the “Dragon’s Den” show you may have seen on TV.  Each of the five finalists will appear on stage\, one at a time\, in front of a panel of celebrity judges (local Muskoka personalities) and members of the public. Audience members and judges will view each finalist’s video\, then judges will ask the finalist questions. Following each Q&A session the judges will privately fill out a scorecard. The judges’ scores will then be combined with those of the Founders selection committee to determine the cash prize winners. \nReception – Following the Founders Den event\, a reception will be held in the Trillium Room at the Opera House where audience members can mingle and meet the contest finalists. A dinner buffet will be served along with liquid refreshments. \nAwards Presentation – After the final scores have been verified\, the winners of the Founders Choice Awards will be announced and presented with their cash prizes! \nLearn more about Founders’ Circle here

SUMMARY:39th Annual Seguin Sled Dog Mail Run
DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendar for Saturday\, February 24 for the 39th annual Seguin Sled Dog Mail run! This is a beloved annual event that welcomes hundreds of local spectators as well as people from across the Parry Sound – Muskoka region. \nThe Seguin Sled Dog Mail Run has been running for 38 years. Every year since 1985\, “sledvelopes” with letters prepared especially for this event\, are gathered\, loaded onto sleds and hauled by several dog teams to Rosseau\, Ontario\, 17 km through the bush on groomed trails. \nTeams gather and leave from the Village of Humphrey\, Ontario\, on Highway 141\, to the cheers and good wishes from the many spectators and friends as the teams disappear in the bush on their way to Rosseau to be received by the Postmaster. The “sledvelopes” are hand-stamped\, a very old method of cancelling mail. These “sledvelopes” have become collector’s items all over the world. \nSledvelopes will be available for purchase starting Wednesday\, January 10\, 2024 at: \nSeguin Public Libraries \nRosseau Post Office \nRosseau General Store \nHumphrey Arena \nSeguin Township Municipal Office \nEach sldvelope is $3.50 each or $5.00 with a $1.50 donation to Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. \nInterested in sponsoring the event?
