We will keep our website and Facebook updated with any changes. \n  \nThanks to everyone who has agreed to share your art work in our year end Art Exhibition with the public at the Bala Cranberry Festival. Together we have captured on canvas a wide range of Muskoka landscapes. However\, our plein air 2024 season would not be complete without a visit to the Johnston’s Cranberry Farm and Winery\, so here we go….  Be Art Love Art.

It is required by legislation to identify proposed levels of service for all municipal infrastructure assets and develop a strategy to fund these activities by July 1\, 2025. \nIn-person: Council Chambers at the Municipal Office \nOnline: Using the Zoom platform \nDo the survey now (about fire\, washrooms\, parks and more): Click here for survey \nLevels of service are specific parameters that describe the extent and quality of services that the Township provides to users. Levels of service link an asset’s performance to target performance goals. Some of the Township’s assets include: fire stations and equipment\, recreation and sports facilities\, community centers\, technology i.e. internet connectivity and the Township’s website\, administration buildings\, and roads\, bridges and sidewalks.\n“An important part of a Levels of Service Review is hearing from the community on what levels of service are expected from the infrastructure owned and operated by the Township\,” said Mayor Peter Kelley. “This information will help us better manage our infrastructure assets to meet current needs\, while planning for the service requirements of the future.”\nTo provide input on this important study\, visit the Asset Management Levels of Service Study page on Engage Muskoka Lakes and answer our quick survey.\nAlternatively\, join us in person or online on Tuesday\, September 24 at 6:00 p.m. to learn more about the project. This is a great opportunity to learn about the assets owned and managed by the Township\, and to ask questions about the current and future levels of service provided by these assets. \nThrough this process\, the Township will:\n• Document current services and current levels of service;\n• Identify potential gaps between current levels of service and those required by legislation;\n• Identify potential gaps between current levels of service and those desired or expected by customers; and\n• Identify actions and estimated costs to meet regulatory requirements or customer expectations.\nOver the coming months there will be more opportunities to provide input on this project. SUMMARY:Hike and Paint Huckleberry Rock Trail with Bala Plein Air
DESCRIPTION:This session is a 4 hour adventure as we explore the Huckleberry Trail together. This loop trail is 2.5km in and out. Artists who make the trek to the Lookout will have the reward of a great vista overlooking Lake Muskoka with the forest leaves on trees in full colour. More to come later about guest artist. \nPlease consider if you are fit enough to traverse rocky ground with a moderate incline and determine your own comfort level. The Bala Plein Air Group assumes that all individuals who participate in this group walk and talk are fit to participate and take on personally the responsibility for the risks involved. More information about Huckleberry Rock Lookout Trail can be found here. There are benches and forest pathways for artists at the entrance of the trail for painting on your own if you do not feel comfortable with the walk and climb. \nPlein air artists who pack light will not mind the 2.5km loop trail. We will leave time for painting/sketching at the lookout after listening to guest artist lecture and learn how plein air artists approach colour\, and take inspiration from Canada’s magnificent views and scenic landscapes. \nRAIN? We will proceed if there is a light possibility 30-40% chance of rain on this day\, but if washed out or stormy weather we will reschedule to THURSDAY August 29. Those signed up with the BPAG Group will be kept in the loop by E-Mail if plans need to be changed. \nSUNNY? Bring a sunshade like an umbrella. Bright sun can overexpose colour and hard to see judge hues and values. \nDIRECTIONS & PARKING From Hwy #118 near Port Carling take Milford Bay Road a short distance to 1057 Milford Road on your left. If you reach the golf course you have gone too far. There are no public washrooms here\, however nearby there are portable washrooms 1/2 km on Hwy #118 near the picnic table Rest area.
