DESCRIPTION:Below is information about the upcoming location scheduled for painting with the Bala Plein Air Group.\nABOUT THIS LOCATION & TIMING:  We will paint from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon around the church\, beside the falls or across the street. There is flat ground options all around on either side of the Church and near the falls.  Just before noon we will take our last session group photo of the season.  If your art work is ready for the Exhibition\, Janet or Susan can collect that from you. \n  \nGETTING THERE:  The address is 1035 Bala Falls Road near the Bala Falls. From Gravenhurst\, drive 26km on Muskoka Road (Hwy #169) to Bala. \n  \nPARKING & WASHROOMS: There are three options for parking nearby.  A large public parking lot is north off of Muskoka Road across from Don’s Bakery. A short walk across the bridge over the Moon River will bring you to the Bala Stone Church yard. A number of spots are available on Bala Falls Road across from the Kee to Bala. This road is accessible from one direction. A public washroom is located on this road. And third\, a large parking lot is across the Falls\, first right coming in from Gravenhurst before you go over bridge crossing the Moon River.  There is some construction machinery parked here also. \n  \nWEATHER:  Cloudy and overcast possible fog and looks like it will be a cooler one – 9 Celsius daytime high. Dress warm. As has been the case there is a small possibility of rain\, but hopefully later in the day.  If it does rain\, we can always head over to Cocoa Boys for a coffee or hot chocolate and chat about next year. They open at 10:00 AM. \n  \nWHAT TO BRING: Bring a painting surface\, easel\, a chair and your own art supplies. Might be good to bring an umbrella and light rain jacket\, just in case.  Bring your own water. \n  \nNo need to RSVP.   See you there.

DESCRIPTION:This year\, we kick off Oktoberfest at Christie’s Mill Inn and Spa in Port Severn with the Happy Wanderers. \nJoin us for an afternoon of fun and frivolity – and Oktoberfest beer and food. You’ll learn about why Oktoberfest is important in Muskoka and some Oktoberfest songs to sing along to on Oktoberfest weekend. \nWhy Tap the Keg? \nAccording to long-standing tradition\, the first beer barrel at the Oktoberfest is always tapped at the Schottenhamel festival tent in Munich. We put our own Muskoka spin on things by moving the Tapping of the Keg ceremony around Muskoka. As we tap (we also come up with our own tapping gear) we yell “O’zapft is!”. And Oktoberfest Muskoka can then get under way. Until then on October 21\, no lips are to touch a beer!
