Meet Visionary Member Oxana Rebro of Mawer Investment Management Ltd.

Investment counsellor Oxana Rebro says successful investing is personal. “We don’t just build portfolios—we build relationships that evolve alongside our clients’ financial journeys,” she explains.

With eight years at Mawer Investment Management and three years as a Bracebridge resident, Rebro specializes in developing tailored investment strategies and financial plans for families and not-for-profit organizations based on their unique needs, future goals, and experiences. “I aim to be the first person they talk to about any significant life event,” she says. “My goal is to become their most trusted advisor in building and preserving wealth.”

Rebro earned her Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Finance from the Toronto Metropolitan University and has her Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEB) designations.

The first step is a discovery meeting to determine fit. “There are different investment styles,” she says. Mawer’s tagline “Be Boring. Make Money.™” means ignoring fads and taking a long-term view of investing—and sticking to a disciplined bottom-up investment approach no matter the market outlook. This may seem a little boring, but it is that repeatable consistency in following their philosophy that they believe can lead to better results over time.

Mawer’s focus is on building long-term wealth and maintaining client relationships for years to come. “We are active managers. Our goal is to help our clients achieve better returns .” The firm typically works with clients who have one million dollars or more in investable assets.

Oxana volunteered for the 2025 YWCA Women of Distinction Awards: she’s shown here with Lifetime Achievement award recipient Beth Ward & YWCA Muskoka Executive Director Hannah Linn on March 8.

Rebro, who lives with her husband and golden doodle, has quickly immersed herself in the Muskoka community. Through Mawer, Rebro has developed a business partnership with South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, supporting it with $10,000 per year for the next three years. She’s also involved in the YWCA of Muskoka, volunteering with programs and participating in the Women of Distinction planning committee. The YWCA recently received a $10,000 donation, thanks to Mawer and Rebro’s hard work.  Mawer will donate 10% of fees received from clients in the not-for-profit and charitable sectors back to the organization as a donation.

As a first-generation Canadian, Rebro remembers helping her parents navigate the banking system when she was a teenager. “I think of some of the subpar advice my parents received when they first arrived here. They would have been so much better off if they’d had quality advice.”

Today, she is helping others by offering sound financial advice. “You still have to be prudent with a $1 million investment to be sure it lasts as long as you need it to.”

Rebro recognizes it’s an uncertain time in the markets now. “Call me,” she says. “You won’t get a call centre—it’s my direct line and email. Let’s grow your wealth together.”
