Join Emily Boone on Tuesday, July 16 from 4:30–6:00 PM for a fascinating talk on Dr. Emily Stowe, Canada’s first recognized female doctor, a fierce women’s rights advocate, and one of Muskoka’s early cottagers.
From earning her medical degree in the U.S. after being denied entry to Canadian schools, to founding one of Canada’s first suffrage organizations, Dr. Stowe was a force for change. Her connection to Muskoka lives on through Crane Island, formerly named Stowe Island.
