Bala Plein Air at RMS Segwun Steamship
July 31 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Thursday evening 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM โ Nocturne Sunset is 8:44 PM SPECIAL EVENING EVENT: As the Royal Mail Steamship Segwun sits at the dock in Gravenhurst Wharf on Lake Muskoka beside her sister ship the Wenonah II, artists of the Bala Plein Air group are invited to paint the storied and treasured historical vessels as the evening sky lights up and the sun sets at 8:44 PM.
Built in Glasgow, Scotland in 1887, the RMS Segwun carried the mail, freight and many passengers on Lake Muskoka to their summer resorts and cottages. The iconic steamship is undergoing refurbishment and restoration and currently has very caring attendants looking after her 24/7. We will meet at 6:30 PM and paint until 9:30 PM. Artists are welcome to paint both a sunset and a nocturne (2 paintings) or incorporate it all into one. At this point there are no plans for a sunset cruise so both Steamships will be at their home dock. More details about this evening will be shared in our weekly newsletter including tips from one of our members on how to paint a sunset if you are a subscribed member to BPAG.
