Annual Polar Plunge Fundraiser in Port Carling
April 11 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Residents across Muskoka are being invited to take an icy dip this spring in support of palliative care services. Hospice Muskoka is preparing for its second annual Plunge for Palliative Care fundraiser, set to take place Saturday, April 11, 2026.
The event will begin at 1 p.m. at the public dock at the end of West Street in Port Carling. Participants will gather to brave the cold waters together while raising money to support compassionate end-of-life care for individuals and families across the region.
Organizers say the fundraiser aims to build on the success of last year’s event while raising $14,000 to help fund Hospice Muskoka’s programs and services. The organization provides support to individuals facing life-limiting illness, as well as grief and bereavement services for families throughout Muskoka.
Participants can register as individuals or as part of a team. Those taking part are encouraged to collect pledges and sponsorships from friends, family and community members to help reach the fundraising goal.
While the main plunge will take place in Port Carling, organizers say participants who are unable to attend in person can still get involved by completing their plunge at a location of their choice. Following the Port Carling plunge, participants are invited to warm up and gather at Andy’s House.
The event is open to a wide range of participants, but organizers note that anyone under the age of 18 must bring identification and be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Hospice Muskoka relies heavily on community fundraising and donations to support its programs. Funds raised through events like the polar plunge help ensure residents have access to palliative care resources, including in-home support, grief counselling and caregiver assistance.
